1000 Reasons Why I Love Toronto
#941 - Fresh Food Fest  at the Ontario Food Terminal
If you’ve ever shopped for food that wasn’t from a farmer’s market, the likelihood it was purchased at the Ontario Food Terminal by whoever you bought it from - is very high. The Ontario Food Terminal is a 42 acre property in Toronto’s west end where most of Toronto’s food goes to first, then is purchased in wholesale by other business that sell it to people like you.
Food Fest is a special event allowing ontario growers to feature local items. I love it. I understand and try to eat 100 mile if possible. Knowing what is grown around you means you can get it fresher, and with positive environmental effects (i.e. the carrot you’re eating doesn’t have to be shipped by truck from California, or mexico, etc.)The event is Sept 22. 11am to 3pm (VERY NARROW WINDOW).I’ll be there!
